About Me

I am a student in the single subject credential program at CSUSM. I think a great part of me has always wanted to teach. Both my parents were teachers, and I have always had great admiration for them and the profession.

I also have a great love of science. I am a geologist. I have both my BS and MS degrees in geology. My specialty is in hydrogeology, or groundwater systems. I worked for many years in the environmental industry working on groundwater and soil remediation projects. I worked on everything from your local gas station to Superfund sites.

However, I have continued to feel that call to teach and now I am following that dream. I am so excited to embark on this next stage of my career. I am getting my certification in both Earth Science and Biology, and have been very fortunate to incorporate both into my student teaching.

My first clinical practice was working with two Earth Science classes at El Camino High School. What a great experience to work with the wonderful students at ECHS teaching my favorite subject, rocks and minerals.

My next clinical practice has been working with two Marine Science classes and one AP Environmental Science class at Carlsbad High School. The Marine Science has allowed me experience teaching many aspects of biology while the AP Environmental Science class allowed me to tie together my many passions of geology, biology and the environmental issues that are dear to my heart.
